Tehranˈs artists house to honor filmmaker Taqvaei

Tehran, June 14, IRNA – Veteran Iranian filmmaker Nasser Taqvaei will be honored at a ceremony to be held at Tehran’s Artists House on June 19, 2014.

A number of Iranian cineastes will speak at the event, which is titled ‘Nasser Taqvaei’s Night’, the English-language newspaper ˈIran Dailyˈ reported on Saturday.

The ceremony is being held as part of the programs to honor influential figures in Iranian arts and culture.

Prominent thinker and philosopher Allameh Tabatabaei, poets Qeisar Aminpour and Sohrab Sepehri and filmmaker Ali Hatami were commemorated in earlier programs.

Taqvaei is a director and screenwriter. Most of his works have been based on novels. ‘Captain Khorshid’ is an adaptation of Ernest Hemingway’s ‘To Have and Have Not’, which won the third prize at the 48th Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland in 1988./end
