New developments in controlling book publication are promising: Salehi
IBNA- Deputy Culture Minister Abbas Salehi said the measures they had planned in improving the condition of book publishing are fortunately being taken or will be taken in future.
Sayyed Abbas Salehi (PhD) told IBNA correspondent that some attitudes in the "board of inspectors" have been put aside and now giving publication permission for books is based on law and respect to the authors and publishers.
We have given a freehand to inspectors in some respects, which of course are based on regulations, but would help them make their decisions more rapidly, he said.
Salehi who was also the Director of the 27th Tehran International Book Fair which ran from April 30-May 10, pointed to the issue of exempting publishers and booksellers from paying tax: We are pursuing the issue in legal terms and the Minister of Culture [Ali Jannati] also following it in the cabinet.
