South Pars gas output to double: official

Tehran, May 29, IRNA Production of natural gas from Phase 12 of South Pars field in the southern province of Bushehr will double June 20, 2014, a senior official said here on Thursday.
Talking to IRNA, the Managing Director of Iran?s Petropars Oil and Gas Company Mohammad-Javad Shams stressed that the gas production capacity of the Phase 12 of South Pars field would reach 25 million cubic meters per day by the end of the current Iranian month of Khordad (to end June 20).
He also put the current level of the gas production capacity of the same source at 12 million cubic meters per day.

Shams underlined that the Phase 12 of South Pars field has had a physical progress of 95 percent.

The South Pars gas field, divided into 28 phases, is located in the Persian Gulf on the common border between Iran and Qatar. The field is estimated to hold 14 trillion cubic meters of gas as well as 18 billion barrels of condensates.

The field covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which lie in Iran?s territorial waters in the Persian Gulf.
