Rouhani: Foreign tourists tripled in Iran
Tehran, May 26, IRNA - President Hassan Rouhani said on Monday that the number of tourists has tripled in the first two months of the current Iranian year, creating job opportunities in the sector.
Rouhani made the remarks after a meeting with the officials at Iran?s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization .

Speaking to reporters, he said in many of our cities there are suitable facilities and hotels for foreign tourists and in some cities the hotel rooms reservations have been made until end of December.

Role of Iran?s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization in attaining economic success as well as increasing employment opportunities is of prime importance, he said.

The organization should also present deep-rooted culture and civilization of Iran to world nations, said President Rouhani.

In addition to the country?s cultural achievements, the organizations should help display the shining history and civilization of the Iranian people, he said.

The country?s historical monuments and works should be presented to the youth in order to notify them of the pace of social and political developments in the country, he said.

Some two million people are now working in the handicrafts sector and they require more facilities to expand their jobs, he said.

The government does its best to ease visa issuance and the private sector should play much active role for investment in tourism, he said.

The number of tourists who come to pay pilgrimage to Iran is also remarkable, he said.

Meanwhile, the president toured the ICHHTO?s exhibition and visited various pavilions and handicrafts.
