Iran’s defense minister says interference of the United States and its Western allies in the internal affairs of other countries threatens global peace and security.
Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan made the remarks in a speech at the 3rd conference on international security in the Russian capital, Moscow, on Friday.
The Iranian minister also warned against the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
He voiced Iran’s strong opposition to such arms, citing a fatwa by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on the prohibition of the development of weapons of mass destruction.
The Iranian defense minister also stated that indiscriminate fight against the development of weapons of mass destruction worldwide, particularly across the Middle East, guarantees restoration of security and the effectiveness of international rules and regulations.
Dehqan further stressed that Iran is against any form of terrorism, especially state-sponsored terrorism, as the Islamic Republic is itself a victim of this phenomenon.
The Iranian minister called for a global fight against terrorism and said terrorism has turned into a dangerous threat due to the unwavering support of the US and its allies.
More than 300 representatives from 40 countries have attended the Moscow conference to discuss challenges to international security.
