The Islamic Republic of Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have agreed to five new practical measures for more cooperation.Following a technical meeting in Tehran on Wednesday held within last Novembers Framework for Cooperation, which outlines a roadmap for mutual cooperation on certain outstanding nuclear issues, the two sides released a joint statement detailing the measures.
The statement said the measures should be implemented by August 25.
Three measures are related to current topics and two practical measures are about past issues, said Iranian Ambassador to the IAEA Reza Najafi after the meeting.
The two sides also reviewed the progress, which has been made in seven practical measures agreed three months ago.
Headed by Tero Varjoranta, the IAEA deputy director general and head of the Department of Safeguards, the IAEA delegation arrived in Tehran early on Tuesday.
Iran and the Sextet of world powers -- Russia, China, France, Britain, the United States and Germany -- clinched a landmark interim deal in the Swiss city of Geneva on November 24 last year to pave the way for the full resolution of the Wests decade-old dispute with Iran over the countrys nuclear energy program.
Under the deal, dubbed the Geneva Joint Plan of Action, the six countries undertook to provide Iran with some sanctions relief in exchange for Iran agreeing to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities during a six-month period. It was also agreed that no nuclear-related sanctions will be imposed on Iran within the same timeframe. The agreement took effect on January 20.
