Rouhani: Iran, Russia convergence brings stable Mideast

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani reiterated that Iran-Russia’s cooperation and convergence would pave the way for establishing a stable and secure Middle East.

“Iran-Russia cooperation for establishing peace has been quite effective over last months. The two sides have had strategic decisions and continuous consultations at experts level to develop and boost bilateral ties,” he made the remarks in a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

He also highlighted Iran’s resolve to boost all-out ties with Russia, saying that, “Boosting ties between Iran and Russia is not only in favor of the two countries and two nations, but also all regional nations will benefit from the ties.”

Putin, for his part, called for using vast opportunities and potentials of the two sides for widening mutual cooperation.

“Off course, Iran and Russia hold a critical responsibility for protecting stability, security and development of Caspian Sea which could be a great and important agenda for both sides.”
