North Korea slams Netanyahu claims of Pyongyang-Tehran cooperation

TEHRAN (FNA)- The North Korean foreign ministry slammed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after he accused Pyongyang of sharing nuclear technology with Tehran.
During a visit to Japan this week, Netanyahu told a Japanese paper that Iran "would share whatever technology it acquired with North Korea", public broadcaster KBS reported on Saturday.

Asked if Pyongyang is receiving technologies linked to nuclear and missile development from Iran, Netanyahu said, "Yes, that's exactly the case."

A spokesman for the North Korean foreign ministry said the prime minister's statement was a "shallow trick to continue expansionist ambitions in the Middle Eastern region."

The spokesman called Israel a "cancer to peace in the Middle East," accusing Netanyahu of "trying to divert international criticism of Israel caused by its settlement activity and breakdown in the Middle East peace talks."

Israel, the spokesman noted, "must shed its bad habit of picking on others when it is driven to the corner and must respond to international demands to achieve peace and denuclearization in the Middle East."

During a meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida on Tuesday, Netanyahu drew a comparison between Israel's nemesis Iran and North Korea, whose nuclear and ballistic missile program is one of Japan's major security concerns.

"We see a danger and a challenge posed by a rogue state arming itself with nuclear weapons. In your case it's North Korea," he said.

"We are faced with such a rogue state in the form of Iran and its quest to develop nuclear weapons," alleged the Israeli premier whose regime is the only possessor of nuclear weapons in the Middle-East.

Israel is believed to be the sole possessor of nuclear arms in the Middle-East with over 200 ready-to-launch warheads in its stockpile.

Iran, a Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) signatory, has repeatedly called for the removal of all weapons of mass destruction from across the globe.

On Wednesday, former Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Hans Blix underlined that the world states are displeased with Israel's atomic arsenals, adding that the regime is an obstacle to creating a Middle-East free from nuclear weapons.

Concerning the US dual behavior towards Tel Aviv's nuclear installations, Blix told Iran's state-run TV on Wednesday night that although the US is angry at Israel, it does not want or cannot do anything in this concern.

The former IAEA director-general said that the world is not pleased with Israel nuclear arsenal and everybody is trying to persuade them to get rid of these nuclear warheads.

He said Iran and Egypt have proposed the Middle- East region free from nuclear weapons, he said Israel has prevented the materialization of the idea, so far.
