Singaporeˈs parliament speaker to visit Iran

Kuala Lumpur, May 14, IRNA — Singaporeˈs Parliament Speaker Halimah Yacob is to pay an official visit to Iran in the first half of June.

The visit is to take place upon official invitation from Iranˈs Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani.

During her five-day stay, the Singaporean parliament speaker is to confer with Iranian officials on issues of mutual relations as well as expansion of parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

A group of parliamentarians and political officials are due to accompany Singaporeˈs parliament speaker.

Halimah Yacob is the first Muslim female who has been elected as Singaporeˈs parliament speaker.

The visit is regarded as the first-ever visit of Singaporeˈs parliament speaker to Iran.
