Iran, China to broaden agricultural cooperation
Tehran, May 12, IRNA Visiting Chinese Deputy Agriculture Minister NIU Dun conferred on Monday with Minister of Agriculture Jihad Mahmoud Hojjati on ways to expand agricultural cooperation between the two countries.

The new Iranian government is to expand all-out cooperation with China mainly in agricultural sector, said Hojjati.

He expressed the hope that the visit would open a new chapter to broaden cooperation in various agricultural sectors such as fisheries, plantation of botanical products, research and forestry.

Hojjati said that the level of mutual cooperation in the agricultural sector falls short of the level of political and economic relations between the two countries.

Signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) on agriculture would serve as a beginning for broader economic cooperation, he said.

The Chinese deputy agriculture minister, for his part, said a working group should be formed to help implement the joint projects in the agricultural sector.

He said that he visited several provinces in Iran and got to know that there exists good potentials for the Iranian agriculture.

He expressed the hope that the two sides would contribute to implement various joint projects.
