Iran examining legal ways to counter sanctions: Official

Iranian international lawyers and the legal advisors of executive bodies are examining channels to counter the Wests sanctions against the country, an Iranian vice president says.
In a Friday interview, Vice-President for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Elham Aminzadeh pointed to the Wests cruel sanctions against Tehran, and noted, Legal solutions to counter the sanctions imposed against the Islamic Republic of Iran are under consideration.

The administration of President Hassan Rouhani has held meetings with academicians from different universities across the country as well as international lawyers and legal advisors from the Central Bank, Atomic Energy Organization and the relevant ministries regarding the issue, she pointed out.

During the course of the meetings, the legal experts proposed solutions to boost the economy and resolve the problems caused by sanctions, Aminzadeh said, adding consultations are scheduled to continue within the framework of expert committees, Aminzadeh noted.

At the beginning of 2012, the US and the European Union imposed new sanctions on Irans oil and financial sectors in a bid to prevent other countries from purchasing Iranian oil and conducting transactions with the Central Bank of Iran.

The US-engineered sanctions were imposed based on the accusation that Iran is pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program. Iran categorically denies such accusations, saying it needs the technology for peaceful purposes including producing electricity andmedicines.
