ICRC willing to increase consultations with Iran on Middle-East humanitarian challenges
TEHRAN (FNA)- President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Pierre Maurer underscored Iran's important role in the region, and voiced the ICRC's enthusiasm for boosting consultations with Tehran on humanitarian challenges in the Middle-East.


Maurer expressed the hope that the institution would organize further dialogues with the Iranian officials about humanitarian challenges originating from growing violence in certain Middle-Eastern regions.

In a meeting with the head of Iran Red Crescent Society in Tehran on Wednesday, he expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between the committee and the entity.

Iran voiced its preparedness to help the ICRC to carry out its relief operations in Syria.

The announcement was made by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian during his meeting with Maurer in Tehran.

Maurer, for his part, called on the Iranian Red Crescent Society to help ICRC to continue its relief operations in Syria.

Maurer also said the ICRC is prepared to construct new mobile medical centers in Syria and help with the reconstruction of new medical centers in other Muslim countries as well.
