Official: Iran ready to export gas to Kuwait
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran has the capacity and is now ready supply pipeline gas to Kuwait, a senior trade official announced.
"We are ready to export gas to Kuwait through pipeline and at a price palatable to both sides," Head of Iran's Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) Valiollah Afkhamirad said, addressing the 12th Iran-Kuwait Joint Trade Committee in Tehran on Sunday.

The official said that Iran is also prepared to export sulfur and LPG to Kuwait.

He noted that the value of Iran's foreign trade stood at around $100 billion last year, and said, "This enabled us to increase our cooperation with different countries, including Kuwait."

Afkhamirad said that senior Iranian officials have on different occasions voiced support for foreign investors, including the Kuwaitis.

Iran and Kuwait have sought to expand bilateral ties through exchanging several high-ranking delegations in the last few years.

Last month, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in a meeting in Kuwait underlined the need for the expansion of bilateral ties.

During the meeting in the Kuwait city, the Iranian deputy foreign minister and the Kuwaiti emir explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating of mutual cooperation.

Amir Abdollahian pointed to good and historical relations between Iran and Kuwait, and said, "We hope that the mutual cooperation which is being followed up within the framework of joint committees will achieve acceptable and palpable results in the near future."

The Kuwaiti emir, for his part, said that his country pays heed to expansion of ties with the regional countries, and said, "Expansion of relations with Iran is in line with the interests of the regional countries."
