Tehran, April 29, IRNA - Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham here on Tuesday stressed that Tehran is still following up the US decision to deny visa to Iran?s proposed ambassador to the United Nations Hamid Aboutalebi.
She made the remarks during her weekly press briefing, adding that Tehran is focusing on the issue and trying to solve it through various channels including the Committee of Relations with the hosting government at the United Nations.
Iran?s Permanent Representative Office at the United Nations has already called for prompt meeting of Committee of Relations with the hosting government to consider US violation of its obligations regarding issuing visas.

The US government, contrary to article 4 of hosting country agreement with the UN, has denied to issue a visa for Iran?s proposed ambassador to the UN.

Afkham further declined to comment on any other choice for the post in future and said Aboutalebi?s designation was made according to the regular procedures.
