TEHRAN (FNA)- Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy General Alireza Tangsiri stressed the Iranian nation and Armed Forces’ preparedness to defend the country, and said the enemies do not want to attack Iran even in their dreams.
“Our deterrence and defensive power has come to such a level that it has dashed the thoughts and the courage for an attack (on Iran) from enemy’s mind,” Tangsiri told FNA in the Central city of Isfahan on Sunday.
“Such a level of deterrence is the most desired objective of all countries’ Armed Forces but it has practically remained a dream and a wish which can’t come true for many of them,” he added.
Elsewhere, Tangsiri referred to the presence of the trans-regional forces and warships in the region, specially the in Persian Gulf, and said, “At present, no foreign and American warship is seen in the waters 24 (nautical) miles away from Iran’s marine borders” in the Persian Gulf.
And due to the powerful deployment of the Iranian Armed Forces in the region, there is no piracy in the Persian Gulf either, he added.
In relevant remarks in September, IRGC Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi said the IRGC Navy has grown so powerful that the US naval forces present in the Persian Gulf have been made to adopt a more precautionary strategy in the waterway.
“The Americans’ long-term naval strategy was based on giant warships (before), but giant vessels and warships are highly vulnerable to the capabilities of the IRGC sea mines, high-speed vessels and missiles and this has caused a change in the Americans’ strategy and made them choose smaller vessels,” Fadavi said on the sidelines of the annual military parades in Southern Tehran.
He said that the United States’ giant vessels in the Persian Gulf have turned to a source of concern for the Pentagon due to their low speed and large hulls which keep them under radar and within the range of Iran’s missiles.
Fadavi said the US troops take a maximum level of precaution to escape confrontation with the IRGC Navy in the Persian Gulf. “They take a lot of care to avoid shooting even a single bullet, because if any war breaks out, it will end with their complete annihilation, as they themselves say.”
Also in February, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan underlined that the Iranian Armed Forces will give an inconceivable response to any possible enemy aggression.
“The Iranian Armed Forces are an intertwined and coherent complex which can give a decisive response to any threat at any level and any place under the command of the Commander-in-Chief (Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei),” Dehqan said in Tehran, addressing the defense ministry personnel on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
Blasting the recent military threats of a number of the US officials against Iran, he said, “The enemy can never assess and think of the range of the response given by the powerful and mighty Armed Forces of the Islamic Iran.”
