Iranian envoy stresses failure of western powers in Syria

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Ambassador to Beirut Qazanfar Roknabadi underlined that the enemies of the axis of resistance have failed to achieve their objectives in Syria.
"The plots of the enemies to topple the Syrian government as the main pillar of the resistance front have been doomed to failure," Roknabadi said in a meeting with secretary and members of the Central Council of the Islamic Amal (Action) Movement.

The Iranian ambassador pointed to the Syrian army's victories in different parts of the country, and said, "We are witnessing Syria's growing victories over the terrorists everyday."

The member of the Islamic Amal Movement, for his part, condemned the terrorist act conducted by the Takfiri groups against the Syrian people.

The conflict in Syria started in March 2011, when sporadic pro-reform protests turned into a massive insurgency following the intervention of western and regional states.

The unrest, which took in terrorist groups from across Europe, the Middle-East and North Africa, has transpired as one of the bloodiest conflicts in recent history.

As the foreign-backed insurgency in Syria continues without an end in sight, the US government has boosted its political and military support to Takfiri extremists.

Washington has remained indifferent to warnings by Russia and other world powers about the consequences of arming militant groups.
