Italian cities to present Iranian theater

Tehran, April 15, IRNA – Iranian theater ensemble Moj has been invited to perform its latest stage creation ˈThe Author Is Deadˈ in several Italian cities.

The troupe is scheduled to perform in Rome, Bologna, Milan and Venice late April. Italy’s ITC Theater Company invited the group, the Press TV reported on Tuesday.

Directed by Arash Abbasi and Ayyub Aqakhani, the play narrates a talented film actress named Leila, who plans to make her first film adapted from a script.

Bologna will host the play on April 24, then the group will go to Venice to perform at Teatro Della Murata on April 25.

Rome’s Salauno Teatro will be next stop of the troupe to stage the play on April 27.

The play was introduced to the Italian company by the Italian cultural attaché to Tehran Carlo Cereti who watched the play during public performances in January 2014.

The Author Is Dead was first staged in January 2013 at the Sayeh Hall of Tehran’s City Theater Complex and gained much acclaim by audiences.
