Tehran keen to develop relations with London: Deputy FM

Tehran, April 14, IRNA Iran is keen to develop relations with the United Kingdom, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs Majid Takht-e Ravanchi said on Monday.
Talking to IRNA, he noted that Iran is pursing to revamp consular and diplomatic ties with Britain.

Takht-e Ravanchi noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran has communicated with the UK government to enhance the level of relations with UK.

Iran and Britain agreed last October to appoint non-resident charge daffaires as a first step towards reopening their respective embassies.

Takht-e Ravanchi said that Iranian Embassy in London is currently delivering consular services to Iranian expatriates living in the United Kindgom.

Closure of the UK Embassy in Tehran created difficulties to the families of the Iranian expatriates and the students studying in the UK univesities coming to Iran in summer holidays and want to go back to proceed with their academic studies.

The Iranian government has communicated with the British government seeking the consular section of the British Embassy to initiate delivery of visa services.
