Kashan, Isfahan Prov, April 13, IRNA A high-ranking Foreign Ministry official, Isa Kameli on Sunday warned against US efforts to apply its security laws to territory of the United Nations.
Speaking to reporters, Kameli made the remarks in reaction to US visa refusal to Iran?s envoy to the United Nations over his alleged involvement in the 1979 embassy takeover. Iranian ambassador to UN Hamid Aboutalebi rejected involvement.
Kameli said that the US move has sparked concerns over the future atmosphere of the UN and casts doubt on the activities of member states of the biggest international body.

Kameli blamed anti-Iran lobby in the United States for trying to throw obstacles on the way of the new positive atmosphere between Iran and the US, following a landmark nuclear deal between Iran and the West on November 24 last year.

As it has become impossible to impose new sanctions on Iran under the pretext of its nuclear program, the anti-Iran lobby has resorted to issues such as terrorism and human rights to put Tehran under pressure, Kameli said.

He said that US refusal to issue visa to Irans appointed representative to UN will damage the credibility of the international body more than ever.

The Iranian diplomat criticized the United States for abuse of its hosting of the United States as a means to put under pressure those countries with whom it has political differences.
