Army to unveil a new six-barrel machine gun

Tehran, April 12, IRNA – Army will unveil a new six-barrel machine gun on the Army Day, Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Forces, Brigadier-General Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan said on Saturday.

He made the remarks during a press conference on the eve of the Army Day on April 18.

ˈThe machine gun called ˈMoharramˈ has 50 caliber and high fire capacity,ˈ the senior commander added.

On April 18, Iran celebrates the Army Day, on the occasion of which a military parade will be held in Tehran.

All units of the Iranian Armed Forces and the Islamic revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) will participate in the parade.

Pourdastan stressed that Iranian Air Force fighters will participate in the Parade and a parade of military vessels will also be held in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

Meanwhile, the commander explained the Armyˈs plans for the current Iranian year (started on March 21).

Pourdastan said that the Army will conduct two joint military drills with the IRGC in the countryˈs south-eastern and south-western areas.

The Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran has joint projects with IRGCˈs Aerospace Force to increase range of its missiles, he added.
