Nasim� ��Hamid Aboutalebi, the Islamic republic�s choice for ambassador to the United Nations, slammed White House decision to block his visa, calling it a breach of international law.
In a piece released to the media, he noted that the step is even a violation of countries definite rights to appoint their own representatives in the UN and stressed that Tehran will exercise all diplomatic efforts to protest this �illegal move�.

The United States has refrained from issuing visa to Aboutalebi, because of �ties to the 1979 takeover of the US Embassy in Tehran.� Although, one of the leaders of the takeover of the US Embassy and currently a reformist journalist, Abbas Abdi, has told that Aboutalebi was not even in Tehran during the initial takeover.
