Iran seeks finalizing expert discussions in Vienna meeting, says Zarif

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif reiterated that the country plans to conclude the experts discussions on its nuclear issue during this round of talks with the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany in Vienna.
"The final topics and issues will be discussed during this week's negotiations, and we will enter into preparation of a comprehensive deal in the next phase in May," Zarif told reporters after his arrival in Vienna on Monday.

Iranian nuclear negotiating team left for Vienna on Monday for the third round of talks.

The delegation is led by Zarif. This round of talks would be the final step before preparing a draft of a comprehensive deal between the two sides.

The third round of negotiations is scheduled for April 8-9 at the UN headquarters in Vienna. A number of Iranian international law advisors have also joined the team.

The EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton plans to meet with Zarif on Monday to discuss the latest positions of the two sides and conclude views of expert talks between Iran and G5+1 held in Vienna recently.

The talks between Iran and the six world powers - the US, Britain, France, Germany, Russia, and China - are part of efforts to seal a final deal on Tehrans nuclear energy program. The two sides reached an interim deal on November 24, 2013, in the Swiss city of Geneva to set the stage for the full settlement of the dispute over Irans program. The deal took effect on January 20.

Under the Geneva deal, the six countries agreed to provide Iran with some sanctions relief in exchange for Iran agreeing to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities during a six-month period. It was also agreed that no nuclear-related sanctions would be imposed on the Islamic Republic within the same time frame.

Iran and its negotiating partners wrapped up their latest round of high-level nuclear talks in Vienna on March 19. The next round of the talks in Vienna will open on Tuesday attended by Zarif and EU foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, and will then continue at the level of their deputies.
