Zarif: Iran stands by Bosnia, its people under hard conditions

Tehran, April 6, IRNA Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif said on Sunday that Iran has always stood by Bosnians and Bosnia Herzegovina under difficult conditions.
Talking to new Bosnian Ambassador to Tehran Edib Begovic in Tehran on Sunday, Zarif said Iran has always had very friendly and strong ties with Bosnia and its people and has taken their side and supported them under tough conditions.

Receiving a copy of Begovic?s credentials, Zarif said Iran favors development, stability and security of Bosnia and is ready to help remove certain impediments to expansion of bilateral relations.

He said efforts are underway for promotion of close relations between the two sides.

The minister referred to membership of both countries in such international organizations as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement, deeming it necessary for the two sides to strengthen constructive interactions in line with mutual interests, especially during Iran?s presidency of NAM.

He also touched on damage caused by extremism to stability and security of societies and countries in different parts of the world, underlining close cooperation among all countries to counter the sinister phenomenon.

The Bosnian diplomat, briefing Zarif on his country?s internal and external diplomacy , said there are vast grounds available for expansion of mutual relations.

He said the Bosnian government and people are still interested in expansion of ties with Iran.

He also referred to high volume of trade between his country and Iran and said Bosnia will use all its potentials to further expand Tehran-Sarajevo relations.
