TEHRAN, April 6 (MNA) Irans FM has criticized the European Parliament on the Parliaments recent fact sheet on Irans human rights record.
Mohammad Javad Zarif, who was addressing the Parliament with invitation from Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission on the eve of new round of nuclear talks with Powers in Vienna to be held on Tuesday, provided a through report of the latest developments of the negotiations.

The European Union is not in a proper place to judge the situation of other countries. The political weight assigned to this parliament is quite light even in European affairs, let alone in international affairs, told Zarif to the Parliament, and believed that the positions taken by European Parliament had not to be taken serious.

In terms of political importance, it is obvious that European Parliament especially in last two decades had inferior position especially about genocide and crimes in Balkan region in 1990s. The way the European Parliament treats the membership attempts made by Muslim nations of the heart of Europe makes it illegitimate in judging human rights records of other countries, Zarif asserted.

He also believed that no extremist group should feel in a position to judge about the record of a nation pioneer in promoting peace and symbiosis, with no record of genocide and war crimes.

Iranians would never allow officials elected by modest 43 per cent turnout in European Parliament elections to judge Iranians epic turnout of 73 per cent in recent Iranian presidential elections by their own means, told Zarif to the Parliamentarians, and that the government would deny admittance for European parliamentary delegations with conditions set in the resolution issued by the European Parliament.

Zarif also said that Irans great civilized nation demanded a relationship based on mutual respect and equal positions and would not tolerate any interventionist behavior undermining national prestige.
