Zarif, Kurz discuss Iran-Austria relations

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Austrian opposite number Sebastian Kurz have discussed the latest developments pertaining to bilateral relations.
The two top diplomats met on the sidelines of nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 group in the Austrian capital of Vienna on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the Iranian foreign minister expressed his gratitude to the Austrian government for hosting the negotiations and informed his Austrian counterpart of the current round of talks as well as future plans for the nuclear talks.

Iran and six powers - Russia, China, France, Britain, the US and Germany - wrapped up their latest round of negotiations over Tehrans nuclear energy program in Vienna on the same day, with both sides describing the talks as fruitful and constructive.

The talks between Tehran and the six countries are part of efforts to seal a final deal on the Islamic Republics nuclear energy program. The two sides reached an interim deal last November with the accord coming into effect on January 20.

Kurz, for his part, welcomed the Tehran-Sextet talks, and underscored the significance of relations between Tehran and Vienna.

The Austrian foreign minister also said the resumption of flights between Iran and Austria will pave the way for further interaction between the two nations.

On February 15, deputy head of Irans Civil Aviation Organization Mohammad Khoda Karami said Iran and Austria will restart direct flights after a one-year suspension in March.

The administration of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has been seeking to expand bilateral economic cooperation with European countries.

On March 9, Rouhani said Iran and the EU have great interests, objectives and common ground for cooperation and expressed hope that the two sides would manage to take new and serious steps towards strengthening cooperation.
