A high-ranking Pakistani official says the countrys Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will visit neighboring Iran in the near future in order to discuss the ground for the enhancement of the ties between Islamabad and Tehran.Sartaj Aziz, a senior advisor to Sharif on national security and foreign affairs, said on Monday that the Pakistani premier will soon visit Tehran, and both the Iranian and Pakistani governments are making necessary preparations to finalize the date of the trip.
During a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on the sidelines of a ministerial meeting of the Developing Eight (D8) group in Islamabad on December 19, 2013, Sharif said Pakistan places strong emphasis on friendly relations with all neighboring countries, including Iran, on the basis of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He added that Pakistan would continue to support all efforts that help establishment of peace and stability in the region.
Zarif, for his part, expressed Irans readiness to bolster Tehran-Islamabad ties in the economic, political and cultural areas.
