Supreme Leader warns of forgetting major historic events

Tehran, March 17, IRNA Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned on Monday against forgetting major historic events through the ploys of the world hegemonic powers.

Addressing a group of visitors, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said, ?Hegemonic powers try to oblitrate major historic events from the memory of world nations using two tricks of forgetfulness and distortion.

The Supreme Leader referred to the forceful evacuation of the Palesinians from their homeland by Zionists and the bravery of the Iranian forces during the eight years of Iraq?s imposed war (1980-88) as two major contemporary historic events.

?Any historic event can be damaged by two major elements of forgetfulness and distortion. The world?s arrogant powers are bent on making world public opinion gradually forget how the Palestinians were forced to leave their cities and villages in an unprecedented plot.

?Using the element of forgetfulness, the hegemonic system is trying to make the issue of Palestine be gradually disappeared and forgotten from the memory of world nations,? said the Supreme Leader.

Ayatollah Khamenei added despite arrogant powers? conspiracies in the past years, the cause of Palestine has been kept alive thanks to the Islamic Revolution and sincere support of the late Imam Khomeini.?

The Supreme Leader urged elites and scholars to prevent hegemonic powers from erasing the memory of world nations.
