Chairman of Irans Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani says the support of superpowers for the Israeli regime has increased the Zionist regimes oppression of Palestinians.The green light and sometimes arms and political aid given by superpowers to the usurping Israeli regime have redoubled oppression against thepeople [of Palestine], Rafsanjani said in a meeting with Louise Arbour, President and Chief Executive Officer of International Crisis Group, in Tehran on Sunday.
He noted that Palestine has suffered 60 years of oppression at the hands of superpowers.
Rafsanjani said world powers enter countries to serve their own interests and disturb the social security of nations.
He pointed to the contradicting policies of arrogant powers, saying they dress their colonialist policies in the garb of human rights and speak and act according to their own interests in every country.
The chairman of the Expediency Council commended efforts made to prevent the outbreak of war among countries, praising activities by different international groups to establish peace and tranquility among nations.
Arbour, for her part, said the International Crisis Group shoulders the responsibility to prevent armed conflict in the world and does not serve the interests of any country.
The International Crisis Group is an independent, non-profit, nongovernmental organization committed to preventing and resolving deadly conflict. It was founded in 1995.
