Indian Tata keen to invest in Iran's steel sector

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Indian Tata Group has expressed its willingness for long-term cooperation, investment and participation in Iran's energy and steel sectors.
The Heads of Trade Development Department Madhu Kannan and Strategic Department Janaki Chaudhry of Tata Group as well as Indian ambassador to Iran D. P. Srivastava in a meeting with Chief of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (Imidro) Mahdi Karbasian expressed their interests in investment in Iran's steel and energy.

During the meeting, Kannan, for her part, said, "We are seeking finding new partners for conducting projects and long-term activities."

Chaudhry, for her part, said, "We did not have partners in Iran for investment and conducting projects, but we are seeking such kind of cooperation with Iranian sides on these fields."

Karbasian, for his part, said Tata's mining and mineral industrial sectors could work with Iran on joint investment, steel industry and mining.

He also said Indian company can also work on lead, zinc, coal, coke, aluminum and titanium.

Tata established in 1868 in Mumbai works on seven different sectors including steel, energy, auto, chemical, communications and consultations. It holds 100 sub-companies in 80 countries and is the 12 largest steel producer in the world. Its earning totaled 24 billion dollars in 2012.
