Rights of men, women equal in Islam- MP
New York, March 13, IRNA Senior member of the Iranian Majlis (Parliament) Halimeh Aali said on Wednesday that men and women enjoyed equal rights in Islam.
Aali made the remarks at her speech to the 58th session of the Commission on the Status of Women which started in New York on March 10.

The Iranian MP was part of a delegation headed by Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs Shahindokht Molaverdi.

The delegation left NY on Wednesday night after holding separate meetings on the sideline of the UN session with their counterparts from other participating states.

Aali said that great importance was given to freedom and dignity of all Iranian citizens including men and women in Iran?s laws and regulations.

She further stressed that special support should be extended to women around the globe, especially to those who live in the regions under foreign occupation.
