Tehran, March 10, IRNA � President Hassan Rouhani said the day designated to the martyrs of the sacred defense is an occasion to celebrate dignity and honor of those who made sacrifices to resist aggression.
��He made the remarks here on Monday while addressing a gathering attended by the war veterans and their family members.
He said the day is a big event not only for the families of the people who made sacrifices during the 1980-88 Iraqi imposed war but for the entire nation and history as a whole.

President Rouhani expressed hope that the nation could well follow the path of martyrs.

He further noted that a major part of the identity and history of a nation includes the braveries and sacrifices made to defend the country.

During the ceremony, President Rouhani also unveiled a stamp coined to commemorate the day.
