No obstacle in way of promoting Tehran-Jakarta ties

Jakarta, March 7, IRNA Visiting Foreign Minister of iran Mohammad Javad Zarif said Friday that Iran attaches great importance to its ties with Indonesia, noting there is no obstacle in the way of boosting Tehran-Jakarta relations.


 
He made the remarks in a meeting with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.


Referring to commonalities of the two countries, he said that Tehran believes the two capitals could promote bilateral cooperation to higher levels in all fields due to their numerous commonalities.

Zarif also hoped that as two major countries in the Islamic world, Iran and Indonesia could help strengthen unity and solve problems and challenges facing the Muslims worldwide including the sectarianism and extremism problems.

Describing Iran-Indonesia cooperation in oil and gas and petrochemical sectors as good and improving, the Iranian minister also called for promoting of making investments in the banking sector.

Touching upon Iran?s viewpoints on nuclear talks, the top diplomat said Iran is determined to end the unnecessary nuclear crisis.

President Yudhoyono, for his part, maintained that bilateral ties are improving between the two capitalks.

He stressed that the two nations should use all their opportunities to further boost bilateral relations.

He also hailed Iran?s role in contributing to solve regional crises and stressed the need for the two Muslim countries to continue consultations to help Islamic world play its part in solving global challenges.

Zarif handed over President Rouhani?s written response to his Indonesian counterpart over the latter?s official invitation for his Iranian counerpart to pay a visit to Indonesia.

Zarif also conveyed President Rouhani?s message of friendship to President Yudhoyono.
