FM urges promotion of economic cooperation with Indonesia

Jakarta, March 7, IRNA Visiting Foreign Minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif called for further economic cooperation with Indonesia in a meeting on Friday with elites, businessmen and foreign diplomats residing in Jakarta.


 
The Iranian foreign minister is currently in Indonesia on a two-day visit.


Later in the day, Zarif is to take part in Jakarta Friday prayers and deliver a speech in the city?s Grand Mosque of Esteqlal.

He is also to meet the Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

On Thursday, Zarif and his Indonesian counterpart Marty Natalegawa explored ways to resolve regional crises as well as issues pertaining to nuclear disarmament.

After the meeting, Zarif said that he made good deals with his Indonesian counterpart to promote bilateral cooperation in trade and banking sectors.

Tehran-Jakarta cooperation in paving the ground for nuclear disarmament and countering possible threats as well as pursuing the WAVE Resolution proposed by President Hassan Rouhani to create a world free of violence and extremism were among other major topics discussed by the two foreign ministers.

Prior to his arrival in the Indonesian capital, Zarif toured Japan where he held talks with the country?s foreign minister and prime minister.
