MP rejects Bahrain's meddling allegations against Iran as baseless

TEHRAN (FNA)- An Iranian parliamentarian underlined that Tehran has always sought to have honest and logical interaction with its neighbors, including Bahrain, and called on the Al Khalifa regime not to try to deceive the international community with unfounded allegations of Iran's meddling in Manama's affairs.
The Islamic Republic of Iran never interferes in the domestic affairs of its neighbors, Vice-Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mansour Haqiqatpour said on Saturday, dismissing the allegations as false and worthless. Manama officials seek to cover up their suppression (of protests) through projection and retreating forward, he added.

He noted that Bahrain needs to heed the legitimate demands of its people, warning that the regimes Saudi-backed repression of protesters will fail to subdue the rage of protesters and further shake the pillars of the Al Khalifa Kingdom.

Bahraini officials should meet the legitimate demands of their people instead of leveling false accusations against other countries and projecting about the crackdown on their people, Haqiqatpour pointed out.

More than 140 Bahrainis have been killed by security forces since February 2011, when the Bahraini uprising began in the tiny Persian Gulf kingdom.

Thousands of pro-democracy protesters have since held numerous demonstrations in the streets of Bahrain, calling for the Al Khalifa royal family to relinquish power.
