MPs slam environment chief for halting work on road
Twenty-six Iranian MPs have issued a written warning to President Rouhani to protest that the head of the Department of the Environment stopped construction of the proposed Shahrood- Aliabad Road.
Massoumeh Ebtekar, the head of the Department of the Environment, halted construction of this road as a protective measure for the Abr Forest, which the road was to traverse.

The MPs accuse Ebtekar of making excuses and add that the rural road was approved for construction by the former administration.

Rahmatollah Noroozi said on Wednesday February 26 that the head of the Department of the Environment has stopped the construction without offering any convincing reason.

The construction of the road across Abr Forest was a highly contentious issue, with environmental activists putting up serious protests to stop construction of the proposed road.
