Beijing, Tehran to become city sisters

Beijing, Feb 26, IRNA - Mayor of Tehran Mohammad Bagher Ghalibafarrived here on Wednesday to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Mayor of Beijing to establish a sisterhood relationship between the two capitals.

Ghalibaf was welcomed by high-ranking Beijing Municipality officials in the city?s international airport.


A sisterhood relationship is a long-term, cooperative bond between two cities in different countries through which cultural, educational, trade and technical exchanges take place.

Activities are usually organized and implemented by volunteers, local institutions, and municipal employees. A city may have any number of sister cities.
