The relations between Iran and the EU are not just limited to trade and economic fields, but they are originated in culture as well as international and regional equations, Rouhani said in a meeting with Latvias new accredited Ambassador to Tehran Atis Sjanits on Monday.

Iran attaches great importance to its relations with the European Union and these ties are age-old and traditional, he added.

There is a suitable ground for the expansion of all-out relations between Iran and European countries, President Rouhani said in a meeting with President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso in Davos, Switzerland.

Barroso, for his part, stressed that both the European Commission and the European Union are keen to enhance ties with Iran, and said, Iran could make a good partner for Europe.
