Official: Sweet gas transfer from phase 12 to start in one week

TEHRAN (FNA)- Deputy Oil Minister Roknoddin Javadiannounced on Tuesday that the transfer of sweet gas from South Pars Phase 12 to the onshore facilities will start next week.

The sweet gas produced at Phase 12 (of South Pars) will be injected to the national grid next week, Javadi, who is also the managing-director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), told reporters on Tuesday.

He noted that the NIOC is intent to commission Phase 12 of the South Pars which is one of the most important and biggest projects as a top priority.

In December, Operator of Phase 12 Rasoul Fallahnejad announced that a 32-inch gas pipeline will soon start work to carry sour gas from Phase 12 of the South Pars to onshore facilities.

Development plan of South Pars gas field phase 12 is underway with the aim of producing 75 million meters of rich gas per day for injection to national gas grid and converting to LNG.

It is envisaged 25 mcm to be injected to gas gird and 50 mcm to be used for changing into LNG.

Production of 120 thousand barrels of gas condensate and 750 tons of sulfur per day are the other targets of the phase 12 development plan.

Iran shares the giant offshore South Pars gas field with Qatar in the Persian Gulf.

Iran has been slow in developing the phases of South Pars in recent years. Eight phases which were supposed to start production last year have yet to undergo development.
