Iran's decisions consider Muslim states' interests, says Rouhani

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani reiterated that Iran's decisions take into account political and security interests of all Islamic states.
Speaking in the 9th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) conference of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Tehran on Tuesday, Rouhani said ,"I as Iranian President declare that we have had such an approach towards the Islamic World and we consider political and security interests of all Islamic states bilaterally, including neighboring Muslim countries in our decisions."

28 parliament speakers, 14 vice-speakers and 47 parliamentary delegations from Muslim states have participated in the IPU two-day meeting.

During the meeting, the rotating presidency of the Union was officially handed over to the Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.

The first three days of the meeting started work on Friday and was held at the level of experts.

On Monday, Larijani was elected as the chairman of Public Committee of the IPU for a one-year period.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, formerly Organization of the Islamic Conference, was established in 1969 and has 57 members. The organization aims to promote dialogue between Islamic countries and the rest of the world and also protect the interests of Muslims when necessary.

The OIC Parliamentary Union has 53 members.
