Iran’s might prevents enemy adventurism: MP

A senior Iranian parliamentarian has commended the Islamic Republic of Iran’s military power as “effective,” stressing that such prowess stops enemies from any adventurism against the country.

“The Islamic establishment is currently standing at the zenith of its might against imperialism, and is defending its national and religious interests,” First Vice Speaker of the Majlis Mohammad-Hassan Aboutorabi-Fard said in the holy city of Qom on Thursday evening.

He added, “Our country has turned into a model society in various spheres for the Muslim world, and the Islamic Republic of Iran is an outstanding example of a political system based on religious principles.”

The remarks come as various US officials, including Secretary of State John Kerry and President Barack Obama, have recently threatened Iran with military action.

On February 8, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan rejected the recent US military threats against Iran as “very meaningless” to Iranians.

Iran’s Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Hassan Firouzabadi has also dismissed the US officials’ threats of military action against the Islamic Republic as a “political bluff,” saying Iran is ready for the “decisive” battle against the US and Israel.
