TEHRAN (FNA)- Head of Irans Chamber of Commerce Gholam-Hossein Shafeyee announced that Iran and Indonesia plan to launch a joint chamber of commerce in the near future.

As per our agreement, the offices of Iran-Indonesia Joint Chamber of Commerce will be opened in both in Tehran and Jakarta soon, Shafeyee said, addressing a meeting with Indonesian businessmen and industrialists on Wednesday.

He stressed that Iran and Indonesia should boost their mutual cooperation in regional and exports fields as well as their cooperation with the regional countries such as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

Shafeyee called on Irans private sector to propose practical mechanisms to boost the volume of trade transactions between Iran and Indonesia.

The value of trade transactions between Iran and Indonesia was merely $1.2 billion in 2011, but it should increase to above $5 billion in future, Shafeyee said.

Speaking in the same event, Iranian Ambassador to Jakarta Mohammad Farazandeh proposed setting up a joint fund to facilitate investments by the two countries traders.

Last week, Shafeyee announced that a delegation of economic activists from Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture would arrive in Jakarta to explore ways of promoting trade cooperation between the two countries.

Shafeyee said that Iran and Indonesia enjoy many common grounds, adding that the Iranian delegation's trip to Jakarta aims to increase trade level between the two countries.

He said that trade between Iran and Indonesia is currently at a low level, despite abundant capacities.

The delegation is comprised of representatives from private sector active in different fields, Shafeyee said, adding, The Indonesian side has signaled readiness for further economic cooperation and trade.
