Fajr music festival to host veteran intl. musicians

Irans 29th edition of Fajr International Music Festival is planning to present the performances of several renowned international musicians.
The festival is to host the Russian pianist Alexey Sergunins recitals at the Eyvan e Shams Hall on February 16 and 17.

He will also perform pieces composed by Iranian musicians Ali Reza Mashayekhi and Hamid Reza Ardalan.

The festivals programs will also include the performance of a Tunisian ensemble led by oud maestro Anouar Brahem.

Swedish bassist Bjorn Meyer, Lebanese percussionist Khaled Yassine and German bass clarinetist Klaus Gesing will accompany Brahem in the concerts.

The group will present pieces in memory of Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish at Tehrans Vahdat Hall on February 18 and 19.

The years festival is also slated to host a Dutch quartet led by the renowned pianist Wolfert Brederode.

Mats Eilertsen (bassist), Samuel Rohrer (drummer) and Claudio Puntin (clarinetist) will perform at the quartet that is to be held on February 13, 2014.

Fajr International Music Festival is Iran's most prestigious music festival that includes national and international competition sections.

The festival annually hosts many domestic and foreign artists performing different pieces in various categories such as International and Folk Music, Classical Music and Youth and Women Music.

The 29th Fajr International Music Festival is scheduled to take place from February 13 to 20, 2014.
