Tajikistan keen to consolidate ties with Iran

TEHRAN (FNA)- Tajik Parliament Speaker Shakour Jan Zohordov voiced Dushanbe's enthusiasm for bolstering all-out relations with Iran which he described as a key regional actor and an advanced regional country.

In a meeting with Caretaker of the Iranian Embassy in Tajikistan Seyed Mahmoud Sadri in Dushanbe on Friday, Zohorov extended his congratulations to the Iranian government and people on the victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Iran and called for increased Tehran-Dushanbe ties in all areas.

He described historical, cultural, religious and language commonalities between the two countries as a base for promotion of bilateral relations.

Sadri, for his part, expressed pleasure over the growing bilateral ties over the past few years.

The Iranian diplomat went on to say that Tehran will spare no efforts to help the development trend in the friendly country of Tajikistan.

Iran and Tajik officials have recently accelerated expansion of the two countries ties and cooperation.

On September 13, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stressed the expansion of the mutual relations and cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan in a meeting with his Tajik counterpart in the Kyrgyz capital city of Bishkek on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
