Official: Iran seeking to expand cooperation with Italy, Germany in arranging fairs
TEHRAN (FNA)- Managing-Director of Iranian Exhibitions Joint Stock Company Hossein Esfahbodisaid Iran is resolved to expand and consolidate its ties with Italy and Germany in arranging and holding fairs.


Esfahbodi made the remarks in separate meetings with Italian Deputy Minister of Economic Development Adolfo Orso and Head of Germanys Exhibitions Muller in Tehran on Tuesday.

During the meeting with Orso, Esfahbodi underlined the need for boosting the volume of trade transactions between Iran and Italy.

Orso, for his part, pointed to the cultural and historical commonalities between Iran and Italy, and urged Iran to attend the 2015 World Expo in his country.

In the second meeting, Esfahbodi and the German trade official pointed to the lifting of EU sanctions against Iran, and underlined the need for holding specialized exhibitions in their countries.

Earlier this week, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a meeting with Head of the German Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee Norbert Rottgen in Munich discussed mutual cooperation between Tehran and Berlin.

Zarif pointed to the long history of cooperation between Iran and Germany in different fields, and called for both parliaments' role-playing in providing an appropriate ground in the new atmosphere of relations between Iran and Germany to use created opportunity caused by Geneva nuclear agreement between Iran and Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council member plus Germany) late in November.

The German parliamentarian underlined positive developments created in mutual relations and wide cooperation in economic field, underlined reciprocal meetings between parliamentary delegations.

The two sides also discussed the latest developments in the Middle-East and Europe.

Last week, Zarif and Italian Minister of Tourism and Culture Massimo Bray exchanged views over the spread of extremism in the region, and discussed new avenues for expanding Tehran-Rome cultural cooperation.

In a meeting in Tehran, the top Iranian diplomat said that violence and extremism are against civilization, and asked for all world nations to share a common viewpoint to fight violence.

Zarif stressed that confronting extremism and violence is on the agenda of his ministry, reiterating that cultural cooperation is the only way to fight extremism.

The Italian minister, for his part, underscored the need for the expansion of cultural relations between Rome and Tehran, saying that cultural cooperation can set the stage for confidence-building.
