TEHRAN A festival introducing Persian art and culture to Bulgarian children was held in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia from January 30 to February 2.Organized by the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) in collaboration with Irans Cultural Office in Bulgaria, productions of the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) were put on display in the exhibit, the Persian service of ILNA reported on Monday.
The Qazvin Department for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, as the representative from IIDCYA, held several workshops during the festival, in which pottery, paintings, puppets and origami were taught to children by IIDCYA cultural experts.
Moreover, several programs were arranged on the sidelines in which Iranian national celebrations including Noruz, the ancient celebration of the Iranian New Year that begins on the first day of spring, were introduced.
Head of the Iranian Studies center at Sofia University Ivo Panov and Iranian compiler of Persian-Bulgarian dictionary Hajar Fiuzi were among those who visited the exhibit during the festival.
Ivo Panov believed that Persian art and literature enjoys a high status and that translation of Persian literary works for the children of Bulgaria would be of great help.
Ivo Panov said that he would like Bulgarian children to learn more about Iran and also to see development of cultural collaborations between the two countries.
Hajar Fiuzi who is also teaching Persian literature at Sofia University said that the festival helped familiarize children of both countries with their cultures.
