No end to plight of Syrian nation by backing terrorism, FM official

Tehran, Jan 29, IRNA Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian said no one is capable of putting an end to the plight of the Syrian nation by supporting terrorists and armed groups.
Talking to IRNA on Wednesday, he said the fresh cases of arms and equipment dispatches by the US to the terrorist groups in Syria was a big mistake because any military solution imaginable for the country should have come true in the past three years.

He said the US paradoxical behavior in backing terrorists while simultaneously taking part in the Geneva-2 talks which is supposed to work out a solution to the Syrian crisis indicates lack of any rational and logical planning behind the White House decisions.

Amirabdollahian further described the Geneva-2 talks as a political play reasoning that participation in the talks while still supporting terrorists could find no end to that regional humanitarian crisis.

He stressed that the settlement of the Syrian crisis is only possible through diplomacy based on democratic manners, holding elections and relying on the votes of the Syrian people.
