Iranian film to compete at Middle East Now film festival

Iranian woman filmmaker Nargess Abyars latest production is slated to contend for awards at the Middle East Now International Film Festival in Italy.

Abyars dramaObjects in a Mirror Are Closer than They Appearis to represent Iran at the Competition section of the festival that will be held in Italian city of Florence.

Produced by Abouzar Pourmohammadi and Mohammad Hossein Qasemi, the movie chronicles the life of a young pregnant woman and her husband.

The movie was named as one of the First Films at the 31st Fajr International Film Festival in Tehran.

Abyars film was also screened at several international festivals such as the 16th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) in China.

Middle East Now is a festival on cinema, documentaries, art and culture from the Middle East and North Africa.

The movies are selected among the most recent and significant Arab, Iranian and Afghan cinematography.

The festival is also enriched by various exhibitions of photography, visual arts, painting, sculpture, debates and presentations of books.

All parts of the festival are held with the intention of presenting the complexity of cultural and artistic expression with which the Middle East as a whole is facing a difficult challenge from todays leading role within the global world.

The fifth edition of the Middle East Now festival will take place from April 8 to 13, 2014.
