TEHRAN (Tasnim) The coordinating workgroup of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) held a meeting in Tehran on Saturday, an adviser to the Iranian parliament speaker announced.Hossein Sheikholeslam, the adviser of Irans parliament speaker for international affairs, told the Tasnim News Agency on Saturday that the APA working group held a meeting in Tehran today with the Chairman of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi in attendance.
He said the meeting was aimed at further coordination for the APA meeting and defining the responsiblities of different committees.
Sheikholeslamadded during the meeting the group appointed Kazzem Jalali as the spokesman of the 9th meeting of Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union (IIPU) due to be held in Tehran in coming weeks.
Iran will take over rotating presidency of the Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union next month as the Iranian capital city of Tehran is scheduled to host the 9th meeting of the IIPU in February.
Yasrebi said that the Iranian Parliament has invited the speakers of 53 Islamic countries to the event, predicting that at least 40 speakers would participate in the Tehran meeting.
