Iran-UK trade exchanges grow unexpectedly

TEHRAN (ISNA)- The recent statistics released by Iran's Customs Organization show that the level of non-oil cooperation between Iran and the UK have dramatically risen, and the exports and imports between Iran and the UK grew considerably over the last nine Iranian months, started on (March 20).


According to the report, the UK was the 10th largest exporter to Iran. Iran's imports from the country rose by 447.70 percent in terms of weight and 262.52 percent in terms of value.

Iran imported 1.2 million tons of goods, worth 591.2 million dollars from Britain.

Off course, the UK has not been the largest Iranian trade partner in Europe and countries such as Switzerland, Germany, Holland and Italy managed to win a greater share.

However, in terms of non-oil exports, Iran's exports to the UK rose by 105.99 percent in terms of weight and 207.91 percent in terms of value in the mentioned period of time. Iran sold 74 thousands of all kinds of goods to Britain, worth 70.8 million dollars.

Iran's imports from the UK included raw sugar, drugs, medical needles and grains, and the exports were steel and iron products, hand-woven carpet, date and raisins.
