US wants Syrian crisis to continue, MP

Tehran, Jan 21, IRNA – A senior member of Majlis (Parliament) said Tuesday that the US approach towards Syria is to continue crisis in that country.

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, Chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, said the US exert pressure on the UN chief Ban Ki-moon to withdraw his invitation to Iran to attend the Geneva talks on Syria on January 22.

He told reporters that the US is against Iranˈs presence in the Geneva conference on Syria since Washington believes that Tehranˈs participation would bring great success and take effective steps towards resolving the Syrian crisis.

Condemning the UN chiefˈs act, he said the move proved that Ban Ki-moon and his international body are strongly influenced by Washington.
